SEO Basics.

There are a great many factors that go into pulling a high page rank. Let's start from the top : META Tags- Sorry, but Google does not read META tags.

Site content- the 1st paragraph of your internet site is a vital part of your optimization. This could also be used as your website's outline. Here is a nice item on the theme of Thailand. If, as an example, you want to make a domain about cooking you might optimize your website for the universal "cooking" term but how well is that going to perform? Well according to Overture there are 8,233. Now that could be your final goal but if you are just beginning there's little to no chance you'll be ranked high enough to get any traffic for the term. Step one : Create an inventory of related terms Open an excel spreadsheet and start making a catalogue of all major industry terms and language related to your website in one column. The list does not have to be very detailed quite yet so don't add part numbers, brand names or many variations of each term. For instance if we wish to remain on the cooking theme our list might look something similar to this. Cooking, cook, cutlery, foods, beef, dairy, wine, seasoning, birds, fish, dining ( easy universal terms ) Step two : Expand the list Now it is time to start adding all those two, three and four term combos with other express terms related to your internet site. For this we may employ some web applications to speed up the method.
